We adopted Legend from PACC a day before he was set to be euthanized. He was returned twice because he had severe seperation anxietey among a few other problems. We did experience this as well but he was ours now and we knew returning him again was not an option.
Legend was very happy to start on some home projects for us very quickly:
1) eating through a door
2) eating through a wall
3) knocking bricks off our wall
While we weren't exactly super excited about his projects, he was so happy all the time and just wanted to be loved. So we just adjusted. He became best friends with our other PACC dog Luna (formerly Rusty) on day one. They played and cuddled together every day.
Way too soon, four years later, on May 24th, 2019 he passed away from cancer. We were fortunate enough to be able to take him home for three hours to let him relax on a beautiful day, chewing on all kinds of bones and his favorite food before peacefully passing in the grass in the backyard he diligentlyprotected from all kinds of evil birds and strange noises.
Without PACC, Legend's life would have been cut even shorter and we wouldn't have been able to meet him and have him in our life for those four years.
This year, we are riding in his honor to raise money for PACC so other dogs like him can get a third chance at life.
