My name is Niveta Bharath and my older sister and I have been trying to give back to the school that inspired us. Back in 2018, my family and I visited the Indian Association of the Blind (IAB) School in Madurai, India, which is very close to my grandparents town, and we were blown away by how much the school does for the visually impaired in the rural parts of India. We were astounded by how such a small school has done so much for the community.
For 35 years IAB has been helping the visually impaired achieve their dreams and bringing them closer to their future. The IAB School is located in Madurai, India where underprivileged and visually challenged are educated, rehabilitated, and given employment opportunities. Students at the IAB School need hands-on learning because of their condition. 'India has the highest incidence of blindness in the world', so it is important that we support them.
The district of Tamil Nadu where IAB is located has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the families in the region cannot afford to teach their kids at home or don’t have the necessary resources. If IAB does not raise enough funds through donations, the school would not be able to provide adequate resources and support to its students in a safe environment.
Currently, my sister and I finished conducting a Summer (social-distancing) Tennis Camp where 30% of our earnings went straight to the IAB School for Blind in Madurai, India. Your donations will help the visually challenged in the rural parts of India get the education, love, and support they deserve.
We would deeply appreciate it if you could take the time to help donate to the IAB School of Blind, especially during these tough times. Your donations will help with food, education, living expenses, and assistive devices. With your help, you could change the lives of many kids and adults!
Thank you for your time and donations!
Niveta and Meghna Bharath.
