"The Boston Gay Men's Chorus creates musical experiences to inspire change, build community and celebrate difference. We deliver this mission thanks to the hundreds of singers, donors and tens of thousands of audience members who hear our music. Be a part of changing the world through song by supporting the BGMC."
Shortly after graduating college, I decided to join the BGMC as a way to fill the void of no longer singing in a chorus. What I didn’t realize at the time was how much being in this group would impact me. Over the past few years, the chorus has truly helped me get through some of the most difficult times in my life, as I know it has for so many other members.
When my mother was in hospice, she told me that even though she would no longer be able to go to my concerts, she would still be watching from above. The first concert I sang in after she passed included a rendition of Elton John’s “Candle in the Wind.” While on stage with 150+ of my fellow chorines, singing this piece, I genuinely felt her presence in the audience and instantly knew that everything was going to be ok. As someone once said, “When words fail, music speaks.”
Please consider making a contribution to the BGMC today so we can continue to create musical experiences that inspire change and celebrate differences. When you donate during the month of August, your gift will be matched 1:1, DOUBLING YOUR GIFT!
