UPDATE: I'm in the Bahamas now and have seen the devastation firsthand. I was able to visit the Salvation Army in Freeport and want to pass along their gratitude for all your contributions. That said, the people here still need our help. It's not too late to donate to the cause.
As a native Bahamian, my heart is broken for the tens of thousands whose lives have been devastated by this catastrophic storm. My loved ones, my friends and the entire community will face years of hardship as they try to recover from the damage brought by Hurricane Dorian. My hometown of Freeport sustained tremendous damage, the extent of which is still being assessed.
I am compelled to help my community and I hope you will join me in supporting with a donation as well. The proceeds will go to the Salvation Army World Service Office and directly benefit the Bahamas. When disasters strike, The Salvation Army is there, providing emergency assistance to survivors and first responders. The Salvation Army is serving those in need and, with your support, they can stay on the frontlines of any crisis.
Please join me in supporting the recovery efforts of my beloved home.
