A personal message from the director...
Less than five years ago, I started a teeny, tiny school in the first floor of my home. Eight children joined us that year, and we doubled the following year and moved into what felt like an enormous building. Just two years later and we are busting at the seams with 33 children and 6 teachers!
Working with children in all kinds of life situations created this winding pathway to Montessori education. I have learned from kids dealing with trauma on the south side of Chicago, teen mothers living in rural Oklahoma, and especially from my own children. They have all been my greatest teachers, and knowing them has pushed me to help create a learning space that feels like home.
At Humboldt Park Montessori, children get the opportunity to learn at their own space, spend lots of time outdoors, and in essence, design their own education. It is an incredible, messy, beautiful thing to watch unfolding. Just take a glance at our instagram feed @humboldtparkmontessori to see the learning in action.
There are many Montessori schools in the world, but most are only able to offer this kind of education to families who can afford it. My dream was to do something different and create a school where money was not a barrier to enrollment. With tons of hard work from our community, we are succeeding! More than 70% of our families receive some kind of financial aid and 45% receive a scholarship covering over half of their tuition.
I truly believe that Montessori education belongs to all children. #Montessoriforall
I’m asking for your help so that we can keep growing and serving more children. We have an opportunity to move into a much larger building where we could enroll 70 children - an exciting project for sure! But one that I enter into with caution, knowing that we need to fundraise quite a bit in order to make the move.
I could definitely use your help to keep fueling this dream and help us turn an empty building into one that becomes a place of peace, community, and child-led learning.
Would you consider being a part of the Humboldt Park Montessori magic in two ways?
1. Come visit our school, follow us through social media, or keep up with our blog. Get to know what we are all about. I love seeing new folks learn about our school! It’s encouraging to know we have supporters cheering us on.
2. Please help us fund the renovations in our new space. We’re looking at needing to raise $130,000 for construction costs, and every amount helps us get closer to that goal.
Thank you for being a part of making this dream happen.

P.S. Please pass this opportunity along to other folks interested in supporting equity in education.
