As an artist, I've found that it can be a challenge to align my practice with the need for a more socially just society. How exactly is making ceramics helping to make the world a better place?
At the same time, it's disappointing that in order to make a living making ceramics, my work needs to be priced at a point that most people can't afford. (In fact, I wouldn't be able to buy my own pieces!)
"Making Good", an ongoing initiative that both:
1) Raises money for organizations addressing some of our most pressing societal needs
2) Enables anyone to buy one of my pieces for just $20
How it works:
For a donation of $20 to the currently sponsored organization, each donor will be entered in a drawing to win the currently posted piece. Once the campaign goal is reached, the campaign is closed, and one winner is drawn at random from all of the donors.
--$20 is the minimum donation; however, donors may contribute more than $20, if they choose to or if they find the work of the organization particularly meaningful
--Donors may ONLY DONATE ONCE PER CAMPAIGN
--Donors are required to pay shipping if they live outside NYC
