Global Growth Ministries is launching a humanitarian mission designed to support households in areas where a lack of governmental support intensifies desperation. Our objective is to create sponsorship programs for households that are in dire straits. This project focuses on raising funds to provide relief for impoverished people internationally – those who have sunk beyond despair.
We will begin our endeavor in Zimbabwe, which was already reeling from pre-pandemic drought and economic crisis. People are buckling under the pressure of lockdowns and curfews due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In December, the country faced its second lockdown, further crippling its economy, where the GDP per capita was $1,602 in 2017. With no national vaccination plan in place, the latest lockdown has intensified the humanitarian crisis.
Meet Owen Nginja, our first aid recipient. Owen is a 31-year-old Zimbabwean who was a full-time Bible School student and vendor prior to Zimbabwe's first national lockdown. Owen has found himself struggling to climb out of what seems like a bottomless pit. Owen, his wife, and his child are living in two rooms that they rent. Before Covid-19 hit, they were able to manage to sustain themselves. Two national lockdowns have left them destitute. He is unable to provide even the basic needs for his family.
Over the past three months, we have assisted in providing for the Nginja's needs, but as a very small non-profit, we simply cannot do it alone. Thus, we are now extending the opportunity to you to help keep this family fed, safe and healthy during this crisis.
Project Goal: To raise enough funds to equip Owen and families like his with food, housing, and other necessities to sustain them for up to six months. With hopes that the tide will begin to turn and this plague will have subsided long enough, we endeavor to support Owen, and others like him, until they can get back on their feet. $1,000 will sustain families like Owen for up to six months, providing them with hope for the future. Any donation will go a long way. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." (Luke 6:37)
