Hello Friends, Family, and Allies,
I am so excited to be running the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon as an Athlete for Equality for the Human Rights Campaign! I, along with 10 other teammates, have committed to running on the right side of history. The marathon will be held Sunday November 3, 2019 and I would be honored if you would consider being part of this effort with me.
Why am I doing this?
The work that HRC has done over the years has had a direct impact on my personal life and their work is far from done. I'm helping them help me and the community that I love.
Every dollar raised will help improve the lives of LGBTQ people and be used to increase understanding and encourage the adoption of LGBTQ-inclusive policies and practices.
If you, too, want to live in that kind of future, I ask that you donate to this campaign for the HRC. Each dollar raised will improve the lives of LGBTQ people by working to increase understanding and encourage the adoption of LGBTQ-inclusive policies and practices.
If we share that same value and you are also a strong believer of EQUAL RIGHTS, please make a donation today.
If you believe in equality for all, that love will conquer hate, please make a donation!
Thank you, friends, for considering this amazing cause! Thank you for your love. Thank you for your support.
Feel free to leave a comment or give a shoutout along with your donation- my team loves to read them!
Things your donation can do:
-To my southern friends: Your donation helps fund Project One America (a concentrated effort to improve the lives of LGBTQ in the Deep South- you know we need this). This program aims to change hearts and minds, advance legal protections, and build more inclusive institutions for LGBTQ people- from the church pew to the workplace. Their efforts to raise awareness of LGBTQ issues throughout the Deep South and to encourage love & acceptance towards all communities.
-Parents, uncles, godparents: Supports LBGTQ youth and youth in foster care. Your donation can help support surveys that capture the challenges of 12,000 LBGTQ teens- providing the data the HRC needs to create workshops for parents, teachers, and foster parents. Key findings regarding trans and gender-expansive youth have been exposed, and will continue to be with your help. There are even studies being made on LGBTQ teen athletes and the faces they challenge, and how we can help them win.
-Research: Articles that outlines the implications of violience that led to (at least) 22 transgender people being killed in 2018. There are also studies examining how LGBTQ workers still often face a climate of bias in the workplace albeit the normalization of LGBTQ-inclusive corporate policies.
-Funds the Health and Aging Program, which helps facilities grow transgender-inclusive health benefits policies.
-Globally: Remember the detention, torture, and murder of LGBTQ people in Chechnya? The HRC hosts summits that helps over 30 countries come together to discuss best practices for LGTBQ equality (The Global Innovative Advocacy Summit). Botswana's first trans pride was held thanks to the help of HRC's Partnerships in Pride.
Your donations MATTER- please consider donating!
