I am very happy to share that I will be running the 124th Boston Marathon this coming April. It will be my 4th marathon in the past 2 years. I am being given the opportunity to accomplish it while raising money on behalf of a great charity: Cradle to Crayons.
Both my parents dedicated their life to teaching and helping children of all backgrounds. My father, often referred to a Polish educator, Janusz Korzak, who was given the opportunity to save his life by leaving the children behind or be sent to the Treblinka concentration camp. He chose the later and died with the children. My father constantly reminded me and my sister of Korczak’s sacrifice that no child should ever be left behind and should be able to thrive no matter the cost. Cradle to Crayons definitively reflects his views and the values we were taught growing up.
C2C began small in 2002 when founder Lynn Margherio decided she wanted to find a way for like-new and never-used things to get to children who really need them. Since then, the Cradles to Crayons mission has remained clear: to provide children from birth through age 12 with the everyday essentials they need to thrive at home, at school, and at play.
Please consider supporting Cradle to Crayon Gear Up for Winter Initiative by donating to my Boston Marathon 2020 fundraising campaign! No amount is too small, but for reference:
$33 helps one child in need during the Gear Up for Winter Initiative
$165 helps five children
$660 helps twenty children
$1500 helps forty-five children
Thank you for your support!
