Houston Boxer Rescue (HBR) was born out of a deep love for the boxer breed and a desire to help end the suffering of boxers due to neglect, abuse, or abandonment. We dedicate ourselves to insuring that the dogs in our program get the second chance they deserve and never find themselves lost, alone, or abused, again.
Houston Boxer Rescue (HBR) was founded in 2008 to provide an additional boxer rescue organization, specifically in the Houston area. Our number one goal is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome Boxers that find themselves in trouble. We pride ourselves that 100% of our dogs are vaccinated, spayed, neutered, and microchipped before they are ever placed in an adoptive home. HBR is also a dedicated no-kill shelter, therefore dogs stay in our program until they are adopted into a forever home. Our single most important factor is that our Boxers spend as little time as possible in a kennel. Overall our goal is that 100% of our dogs are adopted out of the foster home environment and into a loving home.
We have added volunteers and veterinary partners as well as developing and maintaining strong relationships with area shelters and animal control facilities. 60% of our dogs come from local shelters and 40% of our dogs come from owner surrenders.
HBR rescues 100-150 Boxers every year. The variation depends on the number of foster homes available and the number of puppies that HBR agrees to sponsor.
