Run for Ruth is an annual 72 hour extreme walk / run community event with the purpose of bringing attention to healthy relationships and domestic violence prevention.
The event kicks off at the University of La Verne on Oct. 9th and ends back on campus on Oct. 13th.
Why 72 hours? This extreme walk/run spans the course of 72 hours to represent the danger a victim of domestic violence experiences in the first 72 hours after leaving the abuser. The first 72 hours are the most critical for survival.
Run or walk for a portion of the route or run the whole route - it's up to you! There are no fees to attend and we encourage community members of all ages to walk, run, bring a scooter or a stroller and be an active part of social change to better our community.

HOUSE OF RUTH INC wrote:
"Don't stay silent so your abuser can stay comfortable!" Domestic violence affects 1in 4 women, 1 in 7 men, and 1 in 3 teens. The impact of domestic violence robs victims of their self-esteem, empowerment, and hope for their future. Did you know that 99% of all domestic violence cases include financial abuse, therefore limiting the options available to flee the abusive relationship. Please help us in the fight to end domestic violence so that we can continue providing alternative options to survivors who are fleeing a dangerous and violent relationship.
