Dear Family, Friends, and treasured Alumnae,
I hope that this letter finds you in good health. Thank you so much for the support you have shown the house of Queen Elizabeth I. Whether you have donated before or provided encouragement and prayer to our members and leadership, we truly appreciate you and all you have done!
As someone who just recently landed in the magical world of King’s one short year ago, I was conflicted about whether or not to attend my house retreat. Despite the stress of missing work, studying for classes, and the pressure of making friends all looming over my head, I bucked up and put my name on the list. Looking back, it is one of my most cherished experiences at King’s. Our house retreat in upstate New York was one of the first times I felt I truly was a queen and really belonged in my house. The house system at King’s gave me, as I’m sure it has many of you, an unmatched community and support system full of women who are deeply committed to loving each other well.
This year, our house brick work is devotion. What this looks like for QE1 is being devoted to becoming women of integrity, devoted to serving those around us, and devoted to serving an almighty God who is already completely devoted to us. To build and strengthen our devotion to one another, we are committed to sponsoring a retreat outside of the city to live out this conviction.
We have seen the many benefits of this retreat. Our girls share meals together, bond over activities, and have intentional conversations about the character and values we are striving after in our community.
We ask that you help us ensure that every woman in QE1 can participate in this important tradition. In order to make sure that no girl stays back for financial reasons, we want to be able to provide full scholarships to new students and keep the cost for upperclassmen at $10 each. To cover the cost of scholarship, transportation, meals, and facility rental, the House of Queen Elizabeth I has committed to fundraising $2,000. Your donation of any amount makes a difference!
- $25 can cover the cost of snacks for our ride up to the retreat location.
- $75 can cover the cost of housing for one girl
- $150 can pay for one of the two dinners we will provide on retreat
- $500 can cover half of the cost of our transportation.
Your donation towards this event helps our executive team prepare a weekend that strengthens our devotion to one another.
Together, we are developing strong women of courage and discernment, who are committed to following Christ’s lead together with dignity and grace.
President of the House of Queen Elizabeth I
PS: Please donate by November 14, 2019 so that we can plan the best retreat possible! Checks can be made out to The King’s College.
