I am thrilled to be running for the House of Possibilities team. The Boston Marathon has always been on my "bucket" list but was always slightly out of reach. I have completed three other marathons including two Ironman marathons and the NYC marathon (back in 2006). I am truly looking forward to experiencing all that the Boston marathon has to offer with the ultimate satisfaction of raising money for an incredible cause.
Thanks so much for supporting me and the House of Possibilities.
HOPe's mission is making a difference for children, adults, and families living with developmental challenges by providing high quality programs and much needed relief and hope. We have a two-pronged focus: to provide recreational and self-improvement opportunities to special children that they may not otherwise be able to receive, and to provide a break from the stresses of caregiving to parents.
HOPe's programs are divided into adult programs and children's programs. For Adults, we offer Community Based Day Supports, which is focused on getting our clients out in the community engaging with their peers with the help of our staff. We also offer a Day Habilitation program, which utilizes our DayHab Service Plans based on each individual’s unique needs and supports the individual to improve their life skills and acquire greater independence.
Our Children's Programs are primarily focused on weekend respite. We offer Adventure Club outings to fun areas in the community, Overnight Respite (soon to be offered Friday through Sunday for full weekend respite), Snack and Chat which includes everything from planning a meal as a group, to shopping for ingredients, to cooking and enjoying food together, and many more programs. We are proud to offer programs that enable these children to make friendships, build life skills, and get out to events in the community that they may not otherwise be able to access.
