Photographer Ralph Alswang is raising funds through his portrait photography to support the impactful work of Horton's Kids. Horton’s Kids is serving Wellington Park in Ward 8, one of Washington, DC’s, most at-risk neighborhoods. This Section 8 housing community is geographically isolated and has one of the highest rates of violent crime, gang activity, and substance abuse in the city. Horton’s Kids works with many children who must overcome the effects of multi-generational, urban poverty as well as the risk factors in the neighborhood. The vast majority of Horton’s Kids’ participants live in food-insecure households with an annual income under $10,000, well below the national poverty line. Approximately 80% of adults in the neighborhood do not have a high school diploma. A $500 donation to Horton’s Kid can… · Help restock the Horton’s Kids library · Pay for a school bus to transport 100 children to one-on-one tutoring · Provide 2 weeks of healthy meals for children in the community Your donation will empower children living in one of Washington, DC’s most under-resourced communities so that they graduate from high school ready for success in college, career, and life. I truly appreciate your support and generosity!
