Chapter Head's Personal Story:
When I was a sophomore in High School, my dad was diagnosed with colon cancer. Over what seemed like a never-ending amount of recovery from chemo, radiation, and surgery, we are grateful to say that he has been in complete remission for over 10 years now. Within the next year or two from my dad's diagnoses, we found out that two other family friends had lung cancer and brain cancer. They both fought extremely hard, but were unfortunately unable to beat the cancer.
These are only a few ways that cancer has affected my life, my family's, and my friends. That being said, I know that almost everyone has been affected by cancer in one way or another. This could be through self, family, friends, co-workers, etc. While my father is a survivor of 10 years, we will never forget how this experience impacted all of our lives. By fundraising for this organization, we are able to help others who are affected by cancer through support, education, research, and hopefully one day, a cure. Here's to hope for a world where no one has to hear the words "you have cancer".
