A SpecialThanks to all our donors and sponsors helping us sustain our communities through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The contrast between the needs of the recipients and donations received is heartbreaking when you are trying to meet the vast needs of a family from the limited items on the shelf in front of you.
Volunteering at HOPE food pantry taught me so much about what types of donations are desperately needed. (www.hopecommunityservices.org)
Food pantries often receive donations of a case (or multiple cases) of one item, for example pasta or peanut butter. The food pantry then scrambles to combine other donated items to be able to give recipients a complete meal, for example, pasta and spaghetti sauce or peanut butter, jelly and bread. It’s so frustrating to handout a gift of food that contains a jar of peanut butter and nothing to go with it. It is even more frustrating when the shelves are empty.
iPower Global Solutions LLC is seeking your donations, so HOPE will have the necessary ingredients to provide a complete meal for those in need.
If you want to feel that you are not powerless in the face of need please donate to HOPE Community Services. (www.hopecommunityservices.org)
Many of you have so generously asked, How can I assist others in this time of crisis and uncertainty? We are at the very beginning of what will be a long, difficult fight for our community. HOPE Community Services is a community-based non-profit that services New Rochelle's most vulnerable populations, 11% of New Rochelle residents live below the poverty line.
HOPE Community Services is at serious risk of running out of much needed food supplies, we have limited resources for the vulnerable population we serve.
"One of the greatest concerns that we've had is how are we going to feed this community? Because we anticipated the need is going to be greater," said Hope Community Services Executive Director Walt Ritz.
Since its early days, HOPE has grown to become the largest emergency Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen in the region. Although HOPE Community Services was founded to respond to hunger in the community, it quickly became apparent that food was not the only thing our clients were lacking. Emotional support, immigration services, and other daily necessities were also needed.
SOUP KITCHEN: Each weeknight HOPE hosts up to 100 guests and serves them with hot meals and take away food.
FOOD PANTRY: HOPE operates one of Westchester’s largest food pantries. Last year thousands of meals were distributed.
HOPEfull Kids: Recognizing that children are impacted by hunger, HOPEful Kids provides meals to children that rely on school lunches when school is not in session
- 20,000 Residents in Westchester are considered food insecure
