Lately, I live my life from, "I have no time"...when actually, I have ALL the time. We each have 24 hours, 1,440 minutes or 86,400 seconds a day to live our best selves...to love ourselves and to love others, as we are commanded to do in Matthew 22: 37-40.
Now let's for a moment consider instead of having no time, you have NO CLEAN WATER. Water IS the most basic and vital need for life. Without it, nothing can happen, nothing can grow and everything with very shortly wither and die. With clean water, everything changes….it restores health, sustains life and offers hope.
Next imagine if YOU had no access to clean water...how long could you live? What would the quality of your life be like then? What if this were your parent, your child, a grandfather/grandmother, aunt/uncle, friend, neighbor or even a stranger. What would the quality of life be for those you love…or those you do not even know without clean water?
There are more than one million Pokot people living in Kenya, and we and many other like-minded organizations want this clean water crisis to change for each of them. Without access to clean water, no human being can thrive. A Pokot woman in western Kenya may walk up to 10 miles each day to gather water - which may not be clean and could cause illness. Fulfilling this basic need consumes so much time and energy that there is little left to invest in family, in education, in self-sustaining work, in dreams for a better future.
The Hope Water Project has been raising funds to build wells and generate awareness to meet this need among the Pokot tribe since 2012. We walk, run, and cycle with the goal of digging wells. We have already dug more than 110 wells, which impacts the lives of 220,000 Pokot people in Kenya. Bringing Life, Hope, Community and Christ to people we will never meet, but who are all our brothers and sisters all the same and who should have access to this basic human essential.
On June 2nd, I am joining a team for a 5K walk/run with a goal to raise enough money in one event to build another well which will provide clean water and hope for more than 2000 additional people in the Pokot Tribe. My invitation here is that you join me in raising funds and walk with me at this event in Auburn Hills (Sat. @ 8am). Together we can walk with purpose!
If you aren't able to come and walk with me, you can:
1. Consider buying a t-shirt in support at https://hope-water-project.myshopify.com/
2. Make a donation on my page to help me reach my fundraising goal
3. Take the 5 for 15 Challenge: If 5 people donate $15, it would provide clean water for 5 people in Kenya for an entire year!
I'm reminded that EVERYONE can do SOMETHING...if you don't want to walk, shop, fundraise or donate, you can keep the Pokot people in your thoughts and prayers...that they would have the life giving gift of clean water.
With your help, each new well that is dug brings life, community and thousands of people to the Gospel for the first time.
Thank you for your support. Melissa

Psalm 116:12-14 - What shall I render to the Lord for all his benefits to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord, I will pay my vows to the Lord.
