Team "H.O.P.E that's the finish line!" is running for Haiti Outreach Pwoje Espwa (H.O.P.E.).
Based in Rochester, NY, H.O.P.E. works with residents in Borgne, Haiti on sustainable community development initiatives, by connecting them to the tools and resources they need to meet their own goals in health, education and economic development.
The biggest barrier to achieving a sustainable community is poor health. One cannot go to school, or work if they are not in good health. Life expectancies are about half that of the United States, and infant mortality is at the levels of the poorest nations on the planet. The most common health threats include a variety of water-borne illnesses, Malaria, TB, Malnutrition, parasites, HIV/AIDS, and infections. Women’s health needs are often overlooked, with children and working men often treated first.
To address these challenges, H.O.P.E. has partnered with the community to run a hospital that offers modern services to Borgne's 80,000 residents. They do not limit healthcare to treating injury and illness. It also includes prevention and nourishment to build healthy bodies, minds, and communities. Your contribution will help H.O.P.E's doctors provide the most humane healthcare possible. This includes educating residents on preventative health measures, the safe delivery of babies; both naturally and via cesarian section, testing for and treating diseases, leading mobile medical clinics to reach those who cannot travel to the hospital, offering oral care services, and the provision of pre- and post-natal care.
All donations stay directly in the community to help pay for medication and medical supplies, as well as the local doctors, nurses, midwives and assistants. Whether you make a donation, or join our team you officially become part of the larger H.O.P.E. community as a thoughtful, global citizen.
Thanks for your support!
