Homelessness is a real issue in New York City and it has many faces. It doesn't always mean living on the streets. In fact, many families and particularly, single-income households financed by a single woman living close to or below the poverty line, end up in shelters or living with family and friends. 70% of New York City’s homeless are families with children.
I dream of world where homelessness does not exist. Families deserve to live in their own safe and comfortable space. How can homelessness be eradicated? I don't have the answer yet, but I want to take action and support WIN (Women in Need) which is an organization that has been providing safe housing, services, and programs to help homeless women and their children rebuild their lives and break the cycle of homelessness.
My goal is to raise $5,000 for WIN by June 7th. The funds will support the organization’s efforts to place families into permanent housing, to provide childcare services and summer camp programs for homeless children of all ages and more. Would you join me in this cause? No donation is too small!
