Hi Friends and Family,
Quick update for those who donated and/or are thinking about donating to the Hope For Hoekstra campaign.
As a reminder, I had orignally decided to participate in the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) during the fall of 2020, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my team and I have decided to postpone our efforts until 2021. I am still looking forward to completing this race in my home city and supporting a cause that is so close to my heart.
As many of you know, Mrs. Lisa Hoekstra has recently been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Since my family moved to MD back in 2007, Mrs. Hoekstra has made an impact on us that cannot be described with words. She shines a light on others that cannot be put out and I am excited that we have the opportunity to support her during this time of quarantine.
To make a change and support Mrs. Hoekstra, I have teamed up with The National Pancreas Foundation to launch the "Hope For Hoekstra" campaign to raise money for cutting-edge research for those suffering from pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer, advocating for new and better therapies, and providing support and education for patients, caregivers, and health care professionals. The NPF is the only foundation dedicated to patients who are suffering from all forms of pancreas disease – pediatric pancreatitis, acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer.
I understand that this is a difficult time, but whether you are donating $5 or $50, I want you to know that you are making a difference!
UPDATE: The National Pancreas Foundation has decided to postpone it's affiliation with the MCM until the Fall fo 2021 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. All donations will still go towards my participation in the 2021 MCM. I appreciate everyone's understanding!
Thank you all for your support!
Onward and Upward.
