Hi Friends and Family,
I hope you are all staying safe and healthy during these unprecedented times! On a positive note, I am excited to announce that I have decided to run in the 45th Annual Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C. this fall on Sunday, October 25, 2020. Running a marathon has been a goal of mine for a long time and I am grateful for the opportunity to do it in the city that I love so dearly.
However, I am not solely running this race to check a box. As many of you know, Mrs. Lisa Hoekstra has recently been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Since my family moved to MD back in 2007, Mrs. Hoekstra has made an impact on us that cannot be described with words. She shines a light on others that cannot be put out and I am excited that we have the opportunity to support her during this time of quarantine.
To make a change and support Mrs. Hoekstra, I have teamed up with The National Pancreas Foundation to launch the "Hope For Hoekstra" campaign to raise money for cutting-edge research for those suffering from pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer, advocating for new and better therapies, and providing support and education for patients, caregivers, and health care professionals. The NPF is the only foundation dedicated to patients who are suffering from all forms of pancreas disease – pediatric pancreatitis, acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer.
I understand that this is a difficult time, but whether you are donating $5 or $50, I want you to know that you are making a difference!
Thank you all for your support!
Onward and Upward.
