Friends of Oakland Animal Services wants to send Oakland's homeless animals Home for the Holidays. And we can't do it without you!
As our city's ONLY open-door shelter, Oakland Animal Services takes in every homeless, lost, abused, or neglected animal who arrives at our door--more than 5,000 animals of all kinds each year. Through Mickey's Medical Fund and our Foster Program, Friends of Oakland Animal Services is making sure as many of Oakland's homeless animals as possible will have the chance to go to their very own home for the holidays this year. But we need your help to meet our $25,000 goal!
Now is your chance to change a life. Your Home for the Holidays donation will makes the difference for animals who were once deemed "unsaveable" due to our shelter's budgetary constraints. In the past year, FOAS donors have saved:
-Puppies with highly contagious (and dangerous) parvo virus, some only weeks old, whose medical and foster care cost upwards of $1500 each;
-Neglected cats and dogs suffering from rotten teeth, the pain of which can affect their behavior and ability to eat. Professional dental care is a quick fix--but the price tag makes FOAS-funding indispensable;
-Bunnies like Baby Elliot, who came to us as a malnourished infant with infected bite wounds, requiring surgery and extensive after care;
-Puppies Chloe and Freya, rescued in a horrific criminal animal abuse case, whose 5-figure medical bills were fully-funded by FOAS donors. (The dogs are now thriving with their new adoptive families!);
-And many, many more animals in need from the more than 100 arriving each week at OAS.
ALL animals deserve a loving home for the holidays. Please help us meet our $25,000 goal--and play your part in making a difference for Oakland's homeless animals this holiday season!
