The girl reached up to stroke the horse’s face. As she looked into the horse’s eyes, the girl suddenly started going into a seizure, something that occurred frequently in her life. The horse leaned over the stall door and put his head on the girl’s shoulder. Whatever happened, the girl came out of the seizure almost immediately! The mother, seeing what had happened, inquired about adopting that special horse. Our horse Levi, was soon on his way to his new home.
This is just one of many stories that we have been witness to at Spirit Horse Equine Rescue & Education Center. Our work can be extremely rewarding, but also arduous and heartbreaking.
Due to a recent decision by our town board, we find that the Home Farm can no longer house the number of horses, donkeys, mules, and ponies requiring a place to be rehabilitated physically, mentally, and emotionally.
We are in desperate need of a dedicated facility.
Some of our equines are with us a short time, and others have special needs and extraordinary care is called for before they can ever be considered for adoption.
We are ready to act on our dream of expanding our rescue-and that is where you come in. If we can mount a successful campaign, we can provide for more of these equines and offer a safe haven in their journey to find a forever home.
Spirit Horse has been in existence for ten years and we are 100% volunteer-based. Your entire donation will go to the rescue and none to administrative costs.
With the power of many hands, and small gifts, we believe that we can acquire a facility that will allow us to save more lives. We believe, do you?
(Note: if we do not reach our goal, we reserve the right to use funds for general operating costs.)
