HOMANITY is the first-ever compilation album featuring the silenced and persecuted voices of Iranian artists. HOMANITY leverages the power of music to highlight the increasing trend of authoritarian governments to censor and persecute contemporary musicians based upon their gender, ethnicity, genre, and socially conscious messaging. HOMANITY features original contributions by prominent Iranian musicians that highlight the Islamic Republic of Iran’s criminalization of musical expression that does not follow its overly strict moral code or dares to support basic human and civil rights.
Today, despite these extreme limitations, Iranian artists produce high-quality music despite the inherent risks. Although their songs cannot ring out over the streets of Tehran, they have inspired a new generation of activists and artists, not just in Iran, but all around the world. HOMANITY unites artists across genres to join forces to raise awareness about the human rights abuses in Iran.
HOMANITY features international superstar and beloved artist, Sattar. Sattar and the other HOMANITY artists such as Kiosk, Justina, Hero & Frya are generously donating songs that express their own stories of repression and censorship.
