When I graduated from Allegheny College in May, I knew I was ending one chapter and beginning a new one. While it was difficult to leave a familiar place that I love so much, I decided to join the PULSE program in Pittsburgh and am excited for something new and promising.
PULSE cultivates a community of young servant leaders to transform Pittsburgh. They invite recent college graduates (like myself) to partner with local nonprofits for a yearof service and leadership. I first got excited about the PULSE program because it gave me a plan for my first year as a college graduate that will provide work experience in a nonprofit, networking, and the chance to live and work in a great city. I’ll also get to live with other PULSE fellows from all over the country as we take on our first year of life after college.
During my year with PULSE, I am looking forward to investing my time and energy into serving residents of Pittsburgh through nonprofit work. I’m also looking forward to using my skills and knowledge from Allegheny in a work setting where I can make a difference in others’ lives. My hope for the year is that I will learn what I can personally bring to the table when it comes to nonprofit work, and that I will help change lives through hard work and service to others. In college I developed a love for environmental studies and education, but I haven’t yet decided whether I will pursue a master’s degree and a career in one of these fields. PULSE offers me a great way to gain experience and direction for my future while also serving others.
Part of my first task as a PULSE fellow is to assemble a team of people who will support me in this work.
Would you please consider supporting me in my work? I am asking for financial, spiritual, and moral support as I complete this year of service, and anything helps. Your donations, good thoughts, prayers, and encouraging words will be very much appreciated! I am in the process of raising a minimum of $2500 to cover expenses for this year of service and leadership, and your support will help impact the lives of Pittsburgh’s most vulnerable. Any amount will go a long way toward helping me meet this goal!
Thank you for your continued investment in my life, in PULSE, and those whom PULSE serves.
With love,
Holly Mangan
