The Holiday Meals program serves meals to over 1,500 home-bound senior clients on three holidays: Easter Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
These three holiday deliveries are separately planned, funded, and executed by a separate pool of volunteers. It is not affiliated with the full-time Meals on Wheels program delivered by Wayne County Meals on Wheels and funded by the Older Americans Act. The Senior Alliance is seeking private donations for the Holiday Meals Program to ensure that vulnerable and isolated seniors receive a nutritious meal on the holidays. The Holiday Meals Program Committee at The Senior Alliance is passionate about the continuation of this program because we believe that a hot meal and a friendly smile on a day most people spend with family makes a difference in the lives of vulnerable and isolated seniors.
