The annual HCDFRS Train Garden and Open House is a collaborative effort between Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue, the Ellicott City VFD, and civic-minded members of the local community. Ellicott City VFD has, for 22 years, provided the space for this annual event and has graciously provided accounting and banking services for the donations generously given by our 15,000 train garden visitors. The donations are managed by the train garden engineers and are used solely to meet train garden operational needs. The train garden engineers greatly appreciate the ongoing support provided by ECVFD.
This year safety concerns inspired the search for a new way to share holiday magic and with the support of Ellicott City Partnership, a walking tour concept on Main Street Ellicott City was born. The Train Garden Crew started work in October to reimagine this year’s undertaking into seven window displays throughout town. Starting on Shop Small Saturday, November 28, and running through New Year’s weekend, January 3, enjoy our newest holiday attraction. For those that love a little competition, scan QR codes at each window and participate in a scavenger hunt by way of your smart phone. Who will be first in the family to spot the ballroom dancers, Big Foot family or dancing elves?
We have always counted on the generosity of donations to fund our activities and ensure we can continue year to year with necessary supplies and new surprises. We would appreciate any help you are willing to give to keep this tradition alive.
Please note that this fundraiser benefits the Holiday Train Garden. If you would like to donate to the Ellicott City Volunteer Fire Department please visit their website at https://www.ellicottcityvfa.com
