Years ago I raised money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, while training for a triathlon with Team in Training. I never knew someone personally who had one of these terrible diseases. Now it has come full circle.
In June 2017, I was diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin's Lymphoma, around my left collar bone. I did radiation therapy, everyday in July. I didn't take time off, doing radiation on my lunch breaks. It gave me a new perspective. Someone asked how I was doing. I said, "Great, I'm alive!" The symptoms from the radiation resolved, and the latest PET scan was negative. Now I'm training for a 50-mile (80 km) trail race, SD50, on Sat., Jan 13th.
Click here for a short YouTube video. I practice medicine and the experience has helped me better understand the challenges we all face everyday.
If you wish to donate (top right), the form asks for your phone number and date of birth. You can make up these numbers- it still works fine. :-)
I'm lucky. Cancer didn't take me, it made me stronger.
