The Hartford supported Hurricane Maria relief efforts by donating to the American Red Cross. As Puerto Rico continues to struggle to restore power and running water, remote areas of the island remain in need of additional assistance and support. It has been estimated that over 500 homes are still missing repairs and relying on roof tarps. Budget constraints have significantly limited the ability of municipalities to respond to the public need as well as prepare for this upcoming hurricane season.
The Hispanic Leadership Network Connecticut Chapter asks for your help to fund raise for United for Puerto Rico through a campaign beginning on Monday, May 21st and ending on Thursday, June 21st. We have a suggested donation for participants of $5, but we appreciate any and all efforts to help us meet or exceed our goal of $1,000!
All proceeds will go to United For Puerto Rico, Inc. (Unidos Por Puerto Rico), which has the mission to provide assistance to individuals and small businesses devastated by Hurricanes Irma and María. By supporting initiatives providing shelter, food, and healthcare, United For Puerto strives to help restore lives within Puerto Rican communities. As of May 7, 2018, United For Puerto Rico has distributed nearly $30 million among 158 nonprofit organizations and its generator program throughout the island.
