(Words by Anna. Scribed by her mom.)
I'm Anna. I went to Epilepsy Camp at North Star Reach for the first time in 2019. I had so much fun doing it because there were a lot of activities there, like archery, swimming, fishing, shaving cream musical chairs, crafts and lots more.
I felt happy to go to camp because I was excited to try new things. I was a little bit scared because I did not know who was going to be there, but I made a lot of friends who were just like me and have epilepsy.
Nurses gave me my medicines every day to make sure I was safe. And, my camp counselors knew about all the things I have to be careful of because I can have seizures. This made me happy because I felt safe.
We had a "doc talk," where the doctor talked to us about epilepsy and we could ask any question. The doughnut man came, and we ate no-hand spaghetti. The best part was the brown paper bag that had prizes in it.
I also took a swimming test. The first time I took it, I was afraid to dive in. The second time, I was not scared and almost passed. My goal is to pass next time I go to camp.
All these activities cost money, and we need donations so I can keep going back to epilepsy camp and my sister can go to sibling camp when she's old enough. We also have family camp every year. Can you help me reach my goal? I am going to make a book mark for everyone who donates. My mom said she'll help me send them out.
Thank you for helping me reach my goal.
