We are building the largest urban farm in the United States, together.

Hilltop Urban Farm is located less than 3 miles from downtown Pittsburgh, and grows fresh produce to support new business development, increase food access, and provide workforce training in the food desert neighborhood of St. Clair through a Farmer Incubation Program, Youth Farm, and Orchard.

The one-acre Youth Farm teaches Hilltop students aged 3 to 19 about basic food nutrition and food preparation, improves their attitudes towards eating locally grown fruit and vegetables, teaches garden ecology and local and global agriculture, and how these systems affect the environment, consumers and local/global economies through after school and summer camp programs. In 2019, over 500 students have visited the Youth Farm.

The Farmer Incubation Program teaches farmers with less than 10 years of growing experience how to start small-scale urban organic farm enterprises. Graduates of the program will exit with a business plan, land access matching services with partners, customer base and a 3-year-old business to assist with acquiring business capital for business expansion.

The one-acre Orchard is the largest orchard in the City of Pittsburgh and features 252 fruit and nut trees and a youth orchard. Visit the orchard to see apricots, plums, pears, nectarines, peaches, apples, cherries, hazelnuts, chestnuts and more!

The Farmer's Market will be hosted on-site at Hilltop Urban Farm as the Farmer Incubation Program expands. It will feature a signature on-site public market. The mobile Farmer’s Market will exclusively serve the 11 Hilltop neighborhoods.

Monthly Volunteer Events are hosted at Hilltop Urban Farm. In 2019, over 750 volunteers have served!
