Thousands of Red Cross volunteers are working tirelessly to provide food, shelter, comfort, and support to those affected by dozens of deadly wildfires in the west and the hurricanes that have ravaged the south. And this effort is getting an injection of Hoosier help.
Since July 1, nearly 100 Hoosiers have answered this call, including Indiana Executive Team members. Kristin Marlow-Kellemen, Executive Director of the Northwest Indiana Chapter, deployed to Oregon to help with External Relations. When Kristin returns, Southeast Indiana Chapter Executive Director, Donna Colon, will travel to Oregon to take over Kristin’s role. Rob Gauss, Greater Indianapolis board chair, and partner at the Indianapolis-based law firm, Ice Miller; and Chad Priest, CEO of the Indiana Region of the American Red Cross, are learning new skills by training to deploy as drivers of an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV)—to provide our volunteer workforce with trusted means to easily reach people in need.
As our Indiana Red Cross leaders answer the call for help, they invite all Hoosiers to join this mission by making a financial donation toward our goal of raising $100,000 to support those impacted by these disasters.
We also have an unprecedented need for new volunteers to help neighbors across the country and right here in our own neighborhoods. You can join Kristin, Donna, Rob and Chad in learning new skills and helping where it is needed most—whether on a disaster operation or right here in Indiana sustaining our everyday work while other Red Crossers deploy.
Our Indiana Red Cross leaders are rolling up their sleeves, opening their hearts, and going all in to inspire action. Will you join them by supporting the American Red Cross disaster relief efforts?
