Hidden Haven Equine is a nonprofit with a mission to heal and bring joy to nursing homes, schools, veterans, and other groups through equine therapy with miniature horses. Hidden Haven started as a dream that Founder and President Laura Pomatto had. She wanted to find a way to combine her love for animals and helping the community. Laura has been around horses and animals all her life, so when she discovered equine therapy and saw how she could uniquely help her community with miniature horses, she put her heart and soul into creating a nonprofit that brings as much joy to the world as it has brought to her. Hidden Haven’s three mini horses – Miracle, Majesty, and Abby – are funny, sweet, and caring animals that love to put a smile on the faces of everyone they meet. Since their inception in 2016, Hidden Haven along with the help from local chapter FFAs and 4-Hs have visited 7 different schools and 7 different nursing homes countless times. Touching the lives of over 2000 people. It is their goal to remind people that life is still full of happy surprises, and that is exactly what they do.
Hidden Haven is raising money for a new van for their miniature horses, also playfully known as the “mini-van.” They have outfitted a mini-van to drive their horses around in for their events, but they have started to outgrow it. They would love to be able to bring more minis and volunteers with them, but they cannot comfortably fit them in the back of their current standard-sized mini-van. What they would like to get would be a 15 passanger transit van that would allow them to fit more horses and travel greater distances so they can reach more people. Being a nonprofit organization, they do not charge for their services, but it does take a lot of money to keep up with the animals and traveling. By raising money for their new van, Hidden Haven would be able to create more moments like the ones seen above.
