The Forge, by Hope for Kids (HFK), is a faith-fueled summer camp that has served youth from every race and socio-economic background for 25 years. The #HFK25More Campaign is a celebration of the work that Hope for Kids has done in the last 25 years and a fight to continue serving children and the community for 25 more.
We have made it our mission to make camp financially accessible to as many kids as possible. Every summer, thousands of children, teens, volunteers, and staff members come from across Philadelphia and the world to experience summer camp in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania. These campers cross social and cultural barriers in order to strengthen core values such as love, unity, service, and character.
The Forge is a light in this crazy world. Anyone who passes through camp is able to experience a loving environment that promotes growth and unity despite differences. It is a place where kids get to be kids. They unplug from the world around them, overcome fears, try new things, and connect with nature and one another. Activities include life lessons, games, swimming, art, kayaking, campfires, and more. We have over 12 different camps with the mission of mentoring the next generation to love, serve, and learn from one another, whether they come as campers, volunteers, or staff. The Forge has served more than 25,000 youth and trained hundreds of students to become leaders through mentoring in job skills, sports, performing arts, and leadership training programs. Ultimately, camp at The Forge fosters strong communities in Philadelphia and beyond.
COVID-19 has resulted in the cancellation of most in-person camp activities and we have lost our main revenue to keep camp going for next year and the years to come. While we have still been running virtual camps, it is not the same, and we hope to return to The Forge next year. However, in order to keep camp open, we need $500,000 this summer. We have strong programs, but if we are unable to raise this amount, The Forge may need to close its doors forever. We are asking for your help through our #HFK25More Campaign. Please help save camp and build a brighter future for the next generation!
