Almost 40 years ago Ron came into my life. From the time I was 3 until I was 5 when my mother and Ron married, I called him Ron. Just before they married, my mother asked me what I would like to call my soon-to-be stepfather. Did I want to call him Dad, Daddy....? My answer to her was "He's my Ron."
He's always been my Ron.
About a year and a half ago, Ron was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. As a family we were devastated and fearful. We knew nothing about Parkinson's Disease. Only that it is progressive. However, knowledge is power. We began to educate ourselves and have learned so much...including what an amazingly supportive community there is for those that are directly and indirectly touched by this disease. I am cycling/fundraising in honor of my Ron to help further awareness and research in hopes of one day finding a cure.
I'm ready to ride.
On February 8 I'll be riding to raise funds and awareness with the Parkinson's Foundation. I'm challenging myself to finish the ride to improve care for those living with Parkinson's and advance research toward a cure.
My fundraising will support the Parkinson's Foundation and help serve the Parkinson’s community by:
· Understanding Parkinson’s through research toward a cure
· Ensuring better care for everyone living with Parkinson’s
· Educating and empowering the Parkinson’s community
