Support This Challenge, Be A Hero, Black Learners Matter
Not all children have what is needed to connect with educators at home. However, as we know, many schools are currently engaging in distance learning, due to COVID-19. Some parents are financially unable to purchase Chromebooks. Meanwhile, students in certain school districts may find themselves on waiting lists to receive assistance. Since I am the founder of a nonprofit promoting educational opportunities in STEM fields for Black boys (www.missionfulfilled2030.org), people in my network often let me know what is going on in the community. Mission Fulfilled 2030 has a sincere interest in helping educate black boys in Technology/STEM fields, but also to promote educational success for all children in need. There is simply no way for the teacher or the students to be successful if they don’t have the bare minimum required to participate in class. However, every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. Ms. Trivia Payne is a second-grade teacher at Sinclare Lane Elementary School, located in Baltimore City. Ten of her students needed equipment to learn at home. When the situation was brought to my attention, I knew I wanted to help by sponsoring Chromebooks. Please watch the video, by clicking this link:
I purchased the first 10 Chromebooks for this fundraiser. The Tech Fund Challenge will help bridge the Digital Divide. The Chromebooks just arrived and will be delivered to Ms. Payne's students soon, but unfortunately, there are more students in the same predicament. We cannot let these educational disparities persist to the detriment of black children, and other children, too. You can be a hero during the pandemic, by helping students and teachers like Ms. Payne!
I'm inviting you to take this Tech Fund Challenge. Whatever you can do on your own, or with a group of friends, is greatly appreciated. Here are levels of support to note:
$250 will sponsor a Chromebook for a child in need of learning equipment
$100 will cover expenses for a child who needs an inkjet printer
$25 will provide a USB headset with a microphone for a student
If you accept the challenge, you may sponsor equipment through my nonprofit, or simply share and use the hashtag #MF2030TechFundChallenge. Tag us on social media @missionfulfilled2030 to let us know if you decide to get involved to help a young person or go to www.missionfulfilled2030.org and fill out a sponsor form.
