Her Justice stands with women living in poverty in New York City by recruiting and mentoring volunteer lawyers to provide free legal help to address individual and systemic legal barriers.
As you think about the many ways you can contribute to your community, please consider standing with Her Justice as we #StandWithHer.
For women living in poverty, legal services are essential services. At Her Justice, 75% of the women they serve are victims of domestic violence and almost 70% are mothers. The COVID-19 pandemic compounds what was already a dangerous situation for women living with abuse.
Despite limited access to the courts, Her Justice lawyers can address many of the legal challenges their clients are facing. Women living with abuse are in need of orders of protection, now more than ever. Mothers are navigating visitation orders while trying to keep their families safe and healthy. Immigrant women who have worked for years to obtain legal status are living in uncertainty as an onslaught of policy changes decide their futures.
For each of our clients, having a Her Justice attorney by her side means that although she is staying put, she is actively working toward a better future. Leveraging the power of the law to secure her safety, independence and economic freedom is now more important than ever before.
Her Justice needs your support today. They must keep working to ensure their clients' legal cases stay on track and their legal rights are protected during this time of uncertainty.
Thank you for your generous support and for choosing to #StandWithHer.
