Seven years ago my brother encouraged my dad and I to all run a marathon as a family. We looked at him like he was crazy. Neither of us had run more the 6 miles. Ever. After laughing it off as a joke we realized that George wasn't kidding. My dad and I trained hard for a couple of months and started to think it was possible. On race day we reached deep into our suitcase of courage. We finished the marathon, two of us far more exhausted than the other. I had checked the marathon off of the to do list and immediately swore off any need to do it again.
Flash forward to now... Jackie challenged me to run the Portland Marathon. My first reaction was to laugh, again. But ultimately I've decided that it will be a great challenge and an even better way to raise awareness and fundraise for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In 2002 my uncle, Randy Adolf, was diagnosed with Leukemia and lost his battle soon thereafter.
Please join me in raising money to fund research to find a cure for Leukemia.
In 2012 I finished my 26.2 miles in 4 hours. My goal this time is 3 hours and 20 minutes. If we blow this goal of $1,500 out of the water I will do everything in my power to push for 3 hours and 10 minutes.
I'm beyond appreciative that you are willing to contribute to my cause. Thank you.
