Henry and I are walking a 10K from 9/1 - 9/30 across Indianapolis to support pancreatic disease. As many of you know, I suffer from chronic pancreatic disease and have undergone 25 surgeries, an islet cell transplant, become a Type 3C diabetic, and lived on 7 different feeding tubes. During this time I've had my pancreas removed, most of my stomach removed, lost my gallbladder, had most of my small intestines and bile duct removed as well and all of my gut rewired. The only way I'm able to eat by mouth to this day is because I take 4 nausea meds 3x/day. And yet I'm still grateful because I'm close to pain free much of the time, no longer am on a feeding tube and am out of the wheelchair.
Henry has been a source of great comfort and rehabilitation for me. When I was learning to walk again, he was my inspiration to get up and out! He also provided great love when I needed to rest more. And that's why this little pup is going on this journey with me. And 10K is a long way to go for his little Shih Tzu legs! We'd ask that you donate whatever you can, $5, $25, $50, $100, $500 if you can afford it. Our goal is to raise as much as possible for patients suffering from this debilitating and difficult disease.
