On September 10th, I was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). I was fortunate enough to recieve excellent care through my provider and a perfect match was found to be my bone marrow donor through Be the Match. https://bethematch.org/
I went through chemotherapy and received my donor stem cells on January 24th. I am home now, with no sign of cancer and I am optimistic that I will remain cancer free. But I am still recovering and time will tell whether I am out of the woods.
There are thousands of others that have had this rare disease destroy their lives. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society https://www.lls.org/ supports research, treatment and resources for those in need. Please join me in my effort to raise funds and awareness of this disease and help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society help others.
Hendricks Strong began as a family mantra in support of my fight with MDS. I have been lucky in my outcome and to have had the support system I did, to keep me focused on recovery. It is now my turn to do my part.
We will be participating in the Light the Night walk on October 12th, 2019. You are invited to join us for this emotional and spectacular event. https://www.lightthenight.org/
