Salvadora is an 83 yr old senior living in the Westlake area of Los Angeles, CA. She recently became a patient of our clinic, and through conversations with our Social Worker, we were made aware of her living conditions. Her living situation has worsen through the years due to her physical disabilities, extremely poor building management, and her inability to access resources. The pictures and videos show a glimpse of their current living conditions. What you don't hear is the sound of the rats crawling throughout their apartment and walking in plain sight. You can not smell the unbearable scent that penetrates through a N95 mask due to the mold growing on her walls. You can't walk withuot stepping on rats' feces or roaches crawling on your feet.
Family Health Care Resources has partnered with Selective Investments Inc. that have undertaken this project as a donation to their community. Her small apartment needs to be completly gutted and re-done. Unfortunately, her landlord has only agreed to provide paint, and floor. He agreed to give the materials, but no help with the labor or assistance fixing the other issues including the mold. The Los Angles Department of Public Health is experiencing delays due to the pandemic. We can't continue arguing with the landlord or begging the city of Los angeles to help.
Today we have taken action, and we've started the process to give this patient a new home, and that's why we are asking for your help! Together, we can give Salvadora a clean and safe place to live.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to cover the costs of a new stove, refrigerator, cabinetery, and a whole new bathroom. Every dollar you give will go directly to Salvadora's home.
On behalf of Salvadora, I would like to thank you for your taking the time to read her story and donate to her fund.
