Faith N Friends was officially formed as a 501(c) in 2016, borne of a desperate need to find safe, loving homes for horses whose owners could no longer keep them for financial, physical, or other reasons. All too often, once-loved horses end up at an auction house where their fate is a grim one. The majority of auctioned horses are purchased by kill buyers and shipped across the borders to be processed for human consumption. Every year, 90,000 horses are shipped across the borders into Mexico and Canada to be slaughtered for human consumption around the world. Faith N Friends provides an alternative to the auction house.
We have grown over the last three years and are moving to a larger property, growing our ability to help save horses from slaughter and provide therapeutic opportunities for people with special needs. The new property is larger, in a better location, and will provide more opportunities to help. What the property lacks, however, is a proper barn.
A barn would provide for onsite hay storage, improved quarantine options for sick or injured animals, better sheltering in extreme weather, and a central location for all the things that go with caring for large animals - tools, tack, feed, first aid supplies, and so much more.
Faith N Friends is a 100% volunteer-run and donation-funded nonprofit rescue. Please consider donating to help us improve the lives of horses and the people whose lives they impact. Your donations are tax-deductible and may qualify for employer donation matching by your employer, doubling your impact.
Every bit helps. When we work together, everyone wins. The horses find loving homes and a rescue frees up a spot for the next horse. Little by little, we cut off the slaughter pipeline. And we rescue more horses from neglect and abuse. More horses give more people the love and companionship everyone is looking for. Everyone wins when it’s a team effort.
