I was recently assigned a task in school to do an impact project on something I am passionate about. I am very passionate on helping those in need. As I did some research I noticed that although Flint MI is not in the national headlines anymore, it is still in need of help. In 2014 the water source for the city of Flint was changed to the Flint River. Due to insufficient water treatment, many residents were exposed to high levels of lead in their water. To this day the city has gotten the water levels safe to drink but many residents are in need of help because of what they were exposed to, particularly with the amount of lead found in the water. Upon my research I found the organization The Flint Child Health and Development Fund. It focuses on the impact the Flint water crisis had on children, particularly those ages 0-6. They work on helping the children in a variety of ways such as making grants to program access to high quality early education for children, provide access to education regarding healthy food and nutrition, to ensure that all children are provided with necessary developmental assessments and support, and increase family, social, and emotional support. Any donations made will directly support The Flint Child Health and Development Fund and any little bit helps!
