After about a 1.5 year long and very difficult battle with cancer, a young man in my parish, Christopher Heren of East Peoria, IL passed away on Dec. 3, 2017 at the ripe age of 35. Everybody loved him and we all miss him dearly. In honor and memory of him, I (Fr. Ciprian Sas) had my hair cut on Apr. 30, 2018 and had it donated to cancer patients through Pantene (a company partnered with American Cancer Society). Chris' parents and other parishioners were present as I was able to donate 10 inches of hair since I had been growing it during his battle. Christopher was an exceptional young man who had a big impact on my life and though I was his priest, I often want to follow his example as he was always so humble, helpful and selfless. He offered so much of himself for the good of our parish of All Saints and everyone around him. In memory of our good friend Christopher Heren, this campaign raises funds for the American Cancer Society and its worthwhile cause to help, treat, and find cures for people afflicted by cancer.
