Since 1966, Wallwood Boy Scout Reservation has been providing youth in our area with a summer camp experience that's both fun and meaningful. Each summer for the past 52 years, over 500 Scouts participate in week long camps where Troops experience the adventure of the outdoors, learn new skills and grow as confident and self-reliant individuals amidst comrades.
Scouts who have attended Wallwood over the years will tell you that some of their best memories are from camp Wallwood, but the value of Wallwood extends far beyond these great memories. Camping at Wallwood teaches Scouts valueable lessons in leadership, loyalty and independence.
But to make these experiences possible, it costs $80,000 each year to keep Wallwood up and running:
1) Camp Ranger - $23,000
2) Electric Bill - $20,500
3) Project Supplies - $14,000
4) Payroll Taxes & Benefits - $9,200
5) Garbage Collection - $3,000
6) Pool Supplies - $3,000
7) Janitorial Supplies - $2,000
8) Misc Employee Expenses - $1,500
9) Government Permits - $1,000
10) Propane - $1,000
11) Vehicle Repair - $800
12) Kitchen Supplies - $500
13) Office Supplies - $500
Total Budget: $80,000/yr
And that's just the cost of keeping it running - it costs extra beyond this budget to fund the various programs and events that are hosted at Wallwood, as well as funds for any major improvements that need to be made.
Traditional Friends of Scouting donations have not been as strong in recent years as we would have liked, and financially, the Council is in a tough position. Which is why we need your help...
With your donation of $5, $10, $20, $50 or more, you'll be part of a group of caring, engaged community members that sees and appreciates the value that Scouting adds to your friends' and loved ones' lives, and your support will help Wallwood continue to thrive, building lifelong memories and life skills for generations of youth to come.
Thank you, in advance, for your support!
