Home fires don't stop during a pandemic and neither do we. Every year, the American Red Cross responds to over 60,000 disasters, the majority of which are home fires.
While every fire is different, they commonly leave survivors without life’s basic necessities. To ensure that no survivor is without help, compassionate Red Cross workers arrive at the scene of a fire, responding to the needs of people who have been impacted and displaced. We meet with home fire survivors to identify and address immediate needs such as food, shelter, clothes, prescription medicines and more. The Red Cross provides financial assistance so families have the means to meet their basic needs. For the sixty-three percent of American families that do not have enough savings to cover a $500 emergency, you can imagine how much this means.
In the following days and weeks, we help those affected get back on their feet by guiding them through a recovery plan that includes connecting survivors to partner agencies that provide services to help address longer-term needs.
Your gift will help during people's darkest moments and for many, it will truly be lifesaving.
