Asian Signers want to say a big thanks to many of you for your continuous support and contribution to various projects and workshops created for Asian, Deaf and signing communities in the past year.
Please take a moment to read this message requesting for charity. We, Asian Signers, believe and work very hard to ensure that spotlighting diverse Asian communities are recognized in ASL, our primary signed language, alongside accessibility for educational purposes. Note that ‘Asians' represent diverse asian communities and inclusive (Central Asia, West Asia/Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia and Pacific Islands as well as adoptees and biracial/multiracial).
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the rise of hate speech and crimes against Asians have been recorded. Many have been facing numerous attacks and hate crimes, particularly the vulnerable groups: Asian elders and Asian women. Also, not many have a chance or feel uneasy in reporting incidents. In honor of Asian victims, hate crimes and violence were condemned against our communities. We, Asian Signers, are committed to supporting anti-racism work and asking you to make a difference. We, Asian Signers, shall continue to host educational workshops, various projects, and events to promote justice. In addition to spotlight underprivileged and underrepresented Asian groups, these are to amplify Asian representations in the media platforms. Technological products and supports benefit our communities sharing similar values by recognizing Asians’ performances. Accessibility is the major reason promoting the bilingual approach (ASL and English captions).
With your donation, it will help allow us to continue and potentially expand our goals in providing productions and resources. We appreciate your care and support. With gratitude,
Asian Signers Team
