Our slogan is; “Data to Dirt.”
We will bring the research and field experience of diverse sources into a website. This will make available, easy to use information which will help to guide the creation of gardens that support bees and butterflies and enhance food webs to support healthy bird populations.
We are raising money to develop and support a website to share environmental research. Every garden design can make a difference in the environment. As individuals, we have dedicated our education and our lives to applying these ideas in every garden we work with. Research has shown a link between healthy local ecosystems and human well-being and this web-based data will help support that link.
Our non-profit, Environmental Metrics Unlimited, known as EMU, is a collaboration between Professor Douglas Tallamy, Landscape Architect Rich Darke and a team of landscape designers led by Christopher Sohnly and Nicole Jackson (pictured above).
Bringing this database to the web will aid home gardeners, landscape designers, and those planning plantings in public or private spaces, to create resilient and diverse gardens that will provide habitat and support for insects, birds and people. We are also developing hands-on learning experiences for classrooms in connection with this project. Children are our future, and if we can provide learning material for them to benefit from, imagine what they’ll create.
Thank you for supporting our efforts!
