We are a family. We are 7 people who have a passion and a dream to serve others, protect our environment, and preserve a unique piece of history. We need your help to get this dream off the ground. Here is our story:
We (Kyle and Andrea) met in college, got married, and had 3 wonderful girls (who happen to be amateur filmmakers and created this video for you). We had the amazing opportunity for a free stay at a YMCA camp in the Colorado mountains several years ago. This sparked a desire to do the same thing for others. We wanted a restful place where people could experience the beauty and peacefulness of the mountains, connect with friends and family, ride a horse, and burn some marshmallows.
Kyle’s sister Tracey has already been devoting herself professionally to making a difference as a licensed clinical social worker, but she spends most of her time driving from client to client and filling out gobs of paperwork. She missed being in the mountains, and she missed having time to connect with others. Scott is the last member of our family. He is an honorary member and long-time family friend who belongs in the mountains. He is a true outdoorsman and loves sharing that passion with others.
As we dreamed together, we discovered The Historic Pines Ranch. It is an incredible ranch in the Colorado mountains first owned by an Irish immigrant in the 1880s and rescued from decline in the 1980s by a Vietnam veteran and former teacher. One of the original buildings from the late 1890s still exists on the property. The ranch is for sale and we want to purchase it to preserve it and continue to share it with the public. We don’t want to see it torn down or used only as a private retreat. To cover operating costs of the ranch, we will continue to operate the current destination wedding venue and expand to include conferences during the offseason.
We are collecting money for the down payment and some seed money to get started. Once the ranch is acquired, donations will be used to provide a free or low-cost stay at the ranch for others, particularly those in helping professions (such as social workers; first-responders; teachers; etc); active-duty military/veterans; and low-income families. We want to gift others with a restful stay in the mountains just like we experienced.
