The Portuguese National Club was originally created by 20 friends in 1934 and then incorporated in 1938. The organizations main objectives were to provide a common place for gatherings, help serve the local community, as well as to honor the Portuguese Culture. Since then, through our volunteers, we have helped various organizations raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities, provided countless scholarships for our high school graduates. We have donated to the local food banks and sometimes just provided help for a family in need. Since 1996 we have also helped thousands of immigrants with the process of becoming US Citizens. In short, the PNC has been a beacon of life in the Stoughton Community for many years, open to anyone who passes through our doors.
In 2007 we built a brand new facility which includes a beautiful function hall which can seat up to 200 people. Our facility has hosted baby showers, weddings, graduations, charitable events, and the list goes on and on. We have been lucky enough to have an onsite restaurant which has allowed us to keep our doors open thus far. Covid-19 has hit us extremely hard, our revenue is down over 60 percent and we are in danger of losing our beutiful property since we cannot host any functions at this time, or in the forseable future. We have exhausted every avenue available to us, including EIDL loans and mortgage forbearance. As it stands now we have less than six months before we have to make the difficult decision of closing our doors and either selling the building or allowing foreclosure. Please help us keep this organiztion alive for the next generation. We would love to continue our tradtion of helping our community for many years to come.
