Help us support our teachers, students, and families during this time of need.
In 2016 our founder, Elizabeth, had a dream. Her dream was to open a school that promoted high quality linguistic and global education for ALL students in grades K-12 in the United States, and to support teachers who were teaching in the classroom.
In 2019, we endured a tragic theft, just as we were able to expand. A former employee embezzled nearly $50,000 from the school and this was a huge blow and setback.
We were on our way back, we eliminated the "for profit" portion of our program and merged it with our nonprofit. We have a board of five directors and we were on our way to getting better protocols in place.
Now we have been dealt another blow. Even though we are an online school, we are contracted with several school districts across the country that have closed and are not allowing their students to attend classes and therefore are not paying their tuitions. In addition, we have had to cancel or move several of our travel programs. Despite this, we have been doing everything we can to support stressed parents and teachers. We offered a modified core class program for $12 per student per class and Elizabeth has been offering free coaching and free professional development webinars to help stressed teachers learn how to teach online. Elizabeth has been working tirelessly with teachers and families in order to provide for educational needs in communities across the country. We have been offering families in need access to these modified core classes for free.
Unfortuantely, we cannot sustain to keep offering classes and trainings for little to no tuition without help from the community. We cannot ask our teachers to work without pay as they have families and are struggling during this time as well.
We have applied to all of the government disaster aid and paycheck protection program that we can but it is slow. We face having to stop classes in progress and lay off teachers. This would be a huge detriment to students who need the credit for graduation.
